Hand Surgeon

Dr Mireia Esplugas is a senior consultant hand surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience. She currently serves as the President of the European Wrist Arthroscopy Association (EWA) and is the founder and medical co-director at Institut Kaplan of Barcelona (Spain). She is also a member of tha Carpal Biomechanics study group in Barcelona.

Her clinical expertise includes wrist and hand arthroscopy, trauma, and degenerative conditions, with a particular interest in carpal instabilities.

She holds European Board Hand Surgeon certification and she is a IWAS and EWA faculty. She is a passionate educator, regularly teaching in national and international courses in English and Spanish. Dr Esplugas also leads https://www.handacademy.online, a platform for digital education for hand care professionals. Her approach combines innovation, precision, and a deep commitment to personalised patient care.
